3MEMS3: Stabiliser Update!

Just a quick post to wrap up my stabiliser design. Having collected the parts from the printer yesterday (and being convinced to place an order for my own) I have successfully fitted the additional device to my robot.

The assembly process doesn't need explanation and can be seen in the gallery below. Unfortunately, I have no bolts to fit at home, but some tightly tied thread proved secure enough to attach the stabiliser without the need to modify the robot.

Just like was modelled in Solidworks and I think it looks great1 I really enjoyed making even this simple attachment, it is now my plan to make my own robot off a new platform this summer. The Creality Ender-3 will be the 3d printer I will use for most parts and Arduino microcontrollers will also likely be used.

Due to my five other modules and extracurricular commitments, I don't have the time to go deeper in the optimisation of this platform, I am definitely convinced that topology optimisation and 3d printing is the best method of creating bespoke parts that are functional, efficient and interesting. I will absolutely explore this further.

While getting the parts for my robot I also collected some parts for my launcher — my next blog post will introduce this and cover the homemade energy storage solution.
